Dave Player

Dave served for five years in the British Army before breaking his neck in 1991.  Since then, his life has been a constant journey of rebuilding, adapting and starting again.  Those experiences taught Dave resilience, determination and the importance of strong teams and shared purpose.

In 2010, Dave founded KartForce to provide injured troops with the opportunity to experience team endurance karting.  What started as an idea quickly developed into something much bigger.  

​

A Clinical Study was carried out to measure the impact motorsport was having on participants and the results showed significant positive benefits.  The study was published and became a recognised form of rehabilitation for injured troops.

​

In 2015, Dave created Team BRIT and spent almost a decade building what is the world’s only competitive team of disabled racing drivers climbing the motorsport ladder with the ultimate ambition of racing at Le Mans.  Alongside an incredible team of people, Dave helped to prove that disability does not define potential and created opportunities that many believed were impossible.

Dave is working with Caleb McDuff, the world’s fastest deaf racing driver, who has serious motorsport ambitions as well as a strong desire to inspire the next generation of deaf children to aim high, work hard and dream big in order to achieve great things in life.

​

Throughout that journey, Dave also discovered something unexpected - the incredible positive effect motorsport can have on people struggling with mental health challenges.  

​

Motorsport creates focus, belonging, accountability, teamwork, structure and achievement.  It gives people a reason to push forward together with a team around them that genuinely cares.

​

He is not a therapist, but Dave’s track record of building successful teams, creating strong team culture and helping people rediscover confidence and purpose speaks for itself.
