The Therapeutic Power of Endurance

Endurance racing is more than just a test of physical limits; it is a profound journey of mental resilience. At Black Dog Motorsport, we leverage the adrenaline of competition and the camaraderie of a team environment to build confidence and foster self-belief in those facing mental health challenges.

Building Confidence

Through consistent participation in the C1 Racing Club championship, we help members find their voice and their strength on the track.

Motivation & Focus

The structured nature of endurance racing provides a clear path for motivation, helping us navigate life's complexities with renewed focus.

New Grassroots Project...

"replacing isolation with camaraderie"

Black Dog Motorsport is a new grassroots motorsport project based in Newbury, created to support those living with mental health struggles through the power of team endurance racing and competitive motorsport.

Built around the understanding that purpose, belonging and excitement can play a vital role in recovery, Black Dog Motorsport will operate like any  club-level race team - competing in the C1 Racing Club championship at some of the UK’s best race circuits, with races ranging from 3 hours to full 24-hour endurance events, including opportunities to compete in Europe.

What makes Black Dog Motorsport different is our drivers.

Every driver has faced, or has a personal connection with, mental health challenges.

The project exists to provide the therapeutic benefits that come from:

  • Having a reason to get out of bed

  • Being part of a team

  • Feeling valued and needed

  • Working towards a shared goal

  • Replacing isolation with camaraderie

  • Creating positive memories and experiences

  • Reigniting confidence, determination and self-belief through the adrenaline and focus of racing

For many people struggling with mental health, life can become dominated by negativity, isolation and loss of purpose. Motorsport changes that. It creates excitement, structure, discipline, friendship and achievement. After every race weekend, drivers return home not with more darkness in their minds, but with stories, memories and experiences they can relive with pride.

The benefits of competitive motorsport on mental health are already supported by published clinical research and recognised as a legitimate form of therapy and rehabilitation. Black Dog Motorsport will also work alongside the psychologist behind previous clinical studies to conduct further research, allowing the project to measure and share its impact and successes.
